Microbially produced biosurfactants are a sustainable alternative to chemically synthesized, fossil-based surfactants—in detergents and cleaning agents, cosmetics, and plant protection products. After seven years of intensive development and optimization, companies and research institutions belonging to the “Innovationsallianz Biotenside” are presenting their results for the first time and demonstrating how biotensides can be produced from various raw materials in a scalable manner using robust, controllable fermentation and processing methods. Users are presenting selected use cases – with insights into formulability, performance profiles, and sustainability aspects.
