SUMMARY:Webinar: Enzymes in industrial synthesis: a daring manoeuvre or a safe bet for a sustainable future?
DESCRIPTION:Biotechnology is nowadays a reality in many fields of chemical industry\, but still the potential of biocatalyzed conversions remains largely unexploited. \nChiral amines\, antibiotics\, fructo-oligosaccharides\, proteins\, pharmaceutical intermediates\, and many other specialties are today produced via whole cell or enzymatic reactions thanks to the very high selectivity of these biocatalysts\, and soon enzymes and microbial cells will replace chemical routes in a number of synthesis steps going from condensation to redox to C-C bond formation. \nWith the growing demand for sustainable products\, process industry is integrating biocatalysts in their toolbox and early adopters already are enjoying profitable and sustainable growth. \nThis webinar series will bring you up to speed on lab developments and industrial partnerships at VITO. \nRegistration \nRegistration is open on the event website. \nAgenda\nModerated by Dr. in chemistry & biotechnology LUDO DIELS \n23/04/2024 | 15:00 – 16:30 (CET) \nThe power of biotechnology for conversion of C1 feedstocks – Heleen De Wever (VITO) \n  \n25/04/2024 | 15:00 – 16:30 (CET) \nEnzymes in industrial synthesis: a daring manoeuvre or a safe bet for a sustainable future? – Yamini Satyawali (VITO) \n  \nPlanning for each webinar session: \n\n10 min for introduction/polling\n45 min for presentation\n5 min for closing/polling\n\n30 min questions (with the moderator and the audience)

SUMMARY:Your impact on environment and society: Workshop on Responsible Research & Innovation
DESCRIPTION:CLIB is organising in collaboration with the FuturEnzyme consortium an interactive online-workshop on Responsible Research & Innovation. Participants from all perspectives (academia\, policymakers\, industry\, public\, others) are welcome to register for the event via the form below. This workshop is free of charge. \nSummary\nResponsible Research & Innovation (RRI) principles are a must in all current and future investigations. To be sure that we squeeze at the maximum our results\, we have to be sure that we are working in the right direction and in line with the best practices. Key is to never lose sight of the real demanded needs for society and environment. With these priorities in mind\, we have set up a workshop in which to deepen in RRI and apply its principles to practical examples. Experts in the matter will be involved and leading different groups\, which will work together to share personal views and examples. Different aspects will be covered in the frame of RRI principles. Register here to be a part of this integrative experience! \nAgenda\n10.00 – 10.30: Welcome and general introduction \n10.30 – 11.30: Workshop activities in small working groups\, led by RRI experts \n11.30 – 11.45: Coffee break \n11.45 – 12.25: Presentation of the group work \n12.25 – 12.30: Conclusion and farewell \nRegistration\nPlease note that the number of participants is limited. Therefore\, you will be approved for participation prior to the event. \nThe registration is closed since 10 June 2023. However\, you can still register to reserve your spot on the waiting list. \n\n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Fantastic enzymes: Where and how to find them
DESCRIPTION:The agenda and short abstracts of the presentations are now available and can be downloaded here. \nThe development of sustainable and resource-saving processes is a major focus of R&D&I work\, also supported heavily by the European Commission as part of the Green Deal and the sustainability efforts. In this context\, biotechnology is already acting as a facilitator to achieve a circular economy and a bioeconomy. With CLIB’s involvement\, the EU-funded project FuturEnzyme is trying to achieve big goals with the identification\, optimisation\, production and application of innovative enzymes to support the transformation of various industrial sectors and their consumer products. Within the project HiPerIn 2.0\, CLIB is looking at cross-cutting issues that could support different industry sectors in a structural change away from fossil-based towards biotechnological processes. We are looking forward to presenting the competences and topics we acquire or work on in FuturEnzyme to an interested international audience. With this CLIB Forum event\, we want to emphasise and promote the need for collaboration between researchers\, entrepreneurs and manufacturers for a greener and more sustainable future. Furthermore\, policy makers\, funding bodies\, investors and consumers are happily invited to join this event. \nThe FuturEnzyme project partners CSIC\, Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the University of Hamburg will present their activities in the project and beyond. Participation is free\, but you will need to register via RSVP (Click “Going” on the left side). The registration is open from now on until 04 September 2022. \nThe meeting link will be sent to all registered participants on 05 September. \n
