It presents solutions and innovations for replacing fossil carbon with biomass\, CO2 utilisation and recycling. \nThe Renewable Materials Conference (RMC) in Siegburg/Cologne (Germany) is the world’s largest conference on chemicals and materials based on biomass\, carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) and advanced recycling – the only alternatives to fossil-based chemicals and materials. The unique concept of presenting all renewable material solutions in one event hits the mark. It covers the entire value chain from alternative carbon feedstocks\, the chemical industry\, the materials sector\, product manufacturers to brand owners\, and also addresses investors and policy makers. Nearly 500 participants from 32 countries attended the previous conference in June 2024\, 90 % of whom were from industry. \nFor three days this year\, top speakers from industry\, academia and policy will present in 80 presentations\, 20 panel discussions and more than ten workshops the latest fossil-free technologies\, innovations\, policy implications\, markets and investments to an international audience of experts. DESCRIPTION:The transport sector accounts for about one-fifth of Germany’s greenhouse gas emissions\, with road transport accounting for the largest share. At the same time\, the automotive industry is confronted with increasingly stringent legal requirements and increasing sustainability awareness among consumers. Sustainability is thus becoming a key differentiating factor for OEMs\, suppliers and service providers. In order to ensure the future viability of the automotive industry\, products and processes must be rethought! \nIn addition to the switch to alternative drive technologies\, resource efficiency\, lightweight construction and the circular economy are of growing importance in the industry. Bio-based raw materials can make an important contribution to sustainable business: thanks to innovative new approaches\, fossil materials can be replaced\, CO2 emissions can be reduced and the circular economy can be promoted. Thus\, CLIB will again bring together innovators\, experts\, and investors for our fourth annual “SME & Start-up Pitch Event @ CLIB” on 03 September 2025 in Düsseldorf to exchange ideas\, build connections\, and advance technologies capable of making a difference. \nWe are adding to the programme this year with an exclusive “boost your network satellite event” on 25 August 2025\, 13.00-16.00 h\, online. If you are an SME\, you can join the online satellite event to reflect on which questions around your technology still need to be answered and let the CLIB managers connect you to relevant partners. \nScope \nWe are going to look at innovations using biomass as a feedstock or biotechnology as part of their process to produce industrially relevant products. The processes can range from purely biotech to combinations of chemical and biotechnological steps. DESCRIPTION:The transition to an environmentally friendly economic model is on the agenda\, unaffected by the turbulence of day-to-day politics. The sustainable modernisation of the industry offers promising prospects\, but is also associated with uncertainty. ‘One of our surveys showed a great need for dialogue on the future of the bio-economy\,’ says Oliver Kutsch\, Managing Director of Ceresana: ’Practical solutions are needed to protect biodiversity and the climate.’ The market research company is therefore now organising a series of online events with the overall title ‘Future of Bio’. The first event on 26 June 2025 will focus on the bio-economy in general. SUMMARY:BIOTRANSFORM: Wege zur zirkulären Bioökonomie in NRW - Stakeholder Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The EU project BIOTRANSFORM analyses the potential for a transformation towards a circular bioeconomy in Europe. Six different model regions are developing individual transformation paths adapted to regional requirements\, which will be evaluated and further elaborated in the course of the project with decision-makers and experts from municipalities\, science\, industry and technology centres\, among others. In this context\, CLIB is focussing on the NRW model region\, which is facing particular challenges as a result of the structural change process. On the basis of locally available biomass streams\, alternative value chains are to be developed that can support the future transformation of the chemical industry. \nAfter analysing different scenarios\, this stakeholder workshop will now develop the necessary steps for successful implementation. In the present scenario\, the production of biopolymers based on side streams from sugar production\, we will develop concrete action points along the entire value chain\, which will then be incorporated into a roadmap and concrete implementation recommendations. DESCRIPTION:The unique conference focused on cellulose fibres – in textiles\, hygiene products and packaging\, 214 participants from 23 countries joined the past conference in Cologne\, Germany. The conference will present the most successful solutions based on cellulose fibres that are currently available on the market\, new developments and approaches and also sheds light on the policy framework. \nThe conference will again cover the entire value chain of the sustainable textile industry\, from lignocellulose\, pulp\, cellulose fibres such as rayon\, viscose\, modal or lyocell and new developments to a wide range of applications: Textiles from renewable fibres\, nonwovens such as wet wipes\, as well as areas such as composites\, hygiene\, packaging or nanocellulose in the food industry. This year\, for the first time\, the conference will include a dedicated session on biosynthetics – a promising area to complement the alternative for bio-based textiles. Deep insights will be offered into the future of cellulose fibres\, which fits perfectly with the current shift towards circular economy\, recycling and sustainable carbon cycles. \nRegistration and more information here.
