SUMMARY:(Bio-)Process Engineering - a Key to Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:Sustainability is the one dominating challenge today. Process engineering\, chemical technology and biotechnology are key to solving it: By closing cycles\, increasing efficiency\, coupling sectors\, and exploiting the potential of renewable resources\, they ensure to meet the global need for food\, mobility\, housing\, energy and medical care while at the same time protecting resources. \nIn 2022\, DECHEMA\, ProcessNet and ESBES join forces: At the joint Annual Conference of ProcessNet and DECHEMA-BioTechNet together with the ESBES symposium\, researchers from industry and science will present developments and solutions on topics such as reaction engineering\, energy generation and storage\, bioprocesses\, synthetic biology\, education and many more.

SUMMARY:BIO.NRW Information Event on Horizon Europe - New Calls for Proposals
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe European Commission has just informed the delegations of the Program Committee on Cluster 1\, Health about the planned call topics in the work program for 2023-2024. The new calls are expected to be published in December 2022. The first submission deadlines are already planned for April 2023. Compared to the previous calls\, there will be some changes in 2023 – 2024. In order to inform you very up-to-date\, BIO.NRW offers this funding event (in German). \nIn the context of this event\, the (potential) call contents for Cluster 6\, Bioeconomy and Environment\, will be in focus in addition to the topic of health. \nIn addition\, we will provide an insight into the support measures of the European Innovation Council (EIC) for all those interested in founding a company\, as well as for start-ups and SMEs. The EIC unites many measures for innovation support\, for which the applicants can choose the topics themselves for the most part. The four important instruments EIC Pathfinder\, EIC Transitions\, EIC Accelerator as well as the EIC Awards offer a lot of room for interdisciplinary ideas. \nFurther information in German can be found here (https://bio.nrw.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Foerdermittel_Programm_2022_f.pdf)

SUMMARY:Schutzrechte & IP in den Life Sciences
DESCRIPTION:BIO.NRW invites you to the event “Schutzrechte & IP in den Life Sciences” on 21.09.2022 at the Design Offices Fürst & Friedrich in Düsseldorf. \nNo matter if startup\, SME or large company\, all have to deal with the questions: when\, where and how do I best protect my IP and to what extent? \nThe event starts with a general overview of the different IP rights (trademark\, design\, etc.) and then goes into the topics of patents and patent strategy separately. Best practice examples from life science players in NRW will not only make the topic of IP and licensing more tangible but will also give you the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss open questions with the speakers and experts during the breaks and at the “get-together”. \nFor more information\, please click here.

SUMMARY:Biotech Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:White biotechnology bridges the gap between sustainable natural ressources and valuable chemical products and\, thus\, plays a central role in building up a future knowledge-based bioeconomy. In particular\, white biotechnology reduces our dependency on fossil fuels and offers large opportunities to synthesize platform chemicals\, fine chemicals\, pharmaceuticals and proteins using the biocatalytic power of microorganisms or isolated enzymes. \nAt the Jülich Biotech Day\, experts from academia and industry will present current highlights and trends in this exciting field of research and development.

SUMMARY:European Cluster Conference 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Czech Ministry for Industry and Trade under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Commission are pleased to announce the organisation of the 8th edition of the European Cluster Conference on 26 and 27 September 2022 in Prague (CZ). Organised with the support of the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP)\, this event is a unique opportunity as it brings together cluster policy makers\, cluster managers\, practitioners and other stakeholders. \nAfter a fully virtual edition in 2020\, this year edition is the opportunity for the cluster community to meet again physically in Prague. Do not miss this opportunity to reconnect with your peers and get to know new clusters or cluster managers in person. \nThis event is following the cycle of European Cluster Conferences that have taken place every two years since 2008\, every time with a different theme enabling participants to focus on different priorities. \nJust before the European Cluster Conference 2022\, a Matchmaking event will be held in a physical format on 26 September 2022 (morning). This event will gather cluster organisations – to explore trade\, investment and partnering opportunities and to develop connections between Europe’s value chains and ecosystems.

SUMMARY:7th PhD Day "Future Bioeconomy" "Scaling the Bioeconomy: Limitations\, Challenges\, Solutions"
DESCRIPTION:After six successful NRW-wide PhD Days on the topic of “Future Bioeconomy”\, this year the 7th NRW PhD Day will again take place as a full-day attendance event on 20 October 2022. The aim of this meeting is to bring together young PhD scientists from different scientific fields and locations in NRW and to offer them a framework for networking and discussion about future developments and career paths in the bioeconomy. With this year’s theme “Scaling in the Bioeconomy: Limitations\, Challenges\, Solutions”\, the aim is to show to the PhD students how far-reaching the relevance of this topic “Scaling in the Bioeconomy: Challenge and Limitations” is for science and industry. It deals with contents such as: Sustainable and sufficient supply and use of biomass\, scaling from lab to pilot scale\, scaling from pilot to large scale production\, etc…. With the selection of speakers\, we want to represent the most diverse stages of development (from young start-ups to established and international companies) and thus the range of challenges associated with scaling processes in the bioeconomy. \n\n\nRegistration is open! Please register at www.biosc.de/registration_PhD_Day.

SUMMARY:The Advanced Recycling Conference
DESCRIPTION:  \nAll you want to know about advanced recycling technologies and renewable chemicals\, building-blocks\, monomers\, and polymers based on recycling: Hear about it at the Advanced Recycling Conference (ARC) 14–15 November 2022\, Cologne\, Germany (hybrid event). The unique concept of presenting all advanced recycling solutions and related topics at one event will guarantee a comprehensive and exciting conference experience\, including technologies such as extrusion\, dissolution\, solvolysis\, enzymolysis\, pyrolysis\, thermal depolymerisation\, gasification\, and incineration with Carbon Capture Utilisation (CCU). \nAmbitious recycling targets set by the EU\, the commitments of the chemical industry and brands\, as well as the demands of customers are putting enormous evolutionary pressure on the recycling sector. Large shares of unrecycled waste streams on the one hand are set against the demand and search for renewable feedstocks for chemicals and materials on the other hand\, leading to discussions as to which technologies are the most suitable for which waste stream and how to evaluate the environmental impac \nRead more
