SUMMARY:CLIB Webinar: Machine Minds\, Bio Solutions: Redefining Bioprocess & Enzyme Engineering
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have optimized processes in many industries and opened up completely new possibilities for process and product development. We already use AI systems in numerous everyday applications\, often without our knowledge. The potential of AI and the independent improvement of AI-generated processes in the context of ML is far from exhausted and is seen by many as the next big revolution in the IT sector. \nIn the fields of enzyme and bioprocess engineering\, too\, many methods applying AI are already being developed and successfully implemented. But what are the benefits and risks of the technology for users and the companies involved? Which applications are already established and what might be possible in the future? We would like to address these questions that we also deal with in our EU-funded projects BiodeCCodiNNg and FuturEnzyme in our upcoming CLIB Webinar with selected speakers. Register for our free Webinar and learn more about trends and advances in the field of AI in bioprocess and enzyme development. \nRegistration deadline is 19 June 2024. \nAgenda\n \nRegistration\nThis webinar is over. Thank you for your participation!

SUMMARY:BioSC International Summer School 2024: Alternative Proteins - Challenges and Chances
DESCRIPTION:Proteins are a central and essential part of food and feed. Very often they are made of animal products like meat\, milk\, or eggs\, with a high impact on the environment\, like greenhouse gas emissions\, pollution and extensive land use. But there are alternatives which require much lesser inputs for example of land and water. This includes plant- or algae-based and fermentation-derived proteins. Fungi and insects can serve as alternative protein sources as well. \nThe use of all of them goes hand in hand with new and optimised ways of producing and processing the raw materials. In the case of plants\, proteins are mostly used directly as food and require little processing. Other protein sources need to be broken down and processed to a much greater extent\, depending on their utilisation. For example\, they can be used to produce a substitute for animal products with similar or even the same ingredients and properties or they can be highly processed to a very pure protein or even amino acids for industrial use. \nIn the International BioSC Summer School “Alternative proteins – Challenges and Chances” you will learn about the different sources and processing methods regarding alternative proteins. And you will have the opportunity to work on case studies in small groups. \nIf you are a PhD student or advanced master student with a research focus in bioeconomy you can apply before 11 June 2024 here.
