From strategy to action – this was the spirit of\u00a0the\u00a0first official event\u00a0of\u00a0the European Bioeconomy Clusters Alliance (EBCA)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0an alliance of European clusters in which CLIB is a founding member.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On 12 February 2026 in Brussels,\u00a0the alliance\u00a0brought together key stakeholders from the European Commission (DG ENVI, DG RTD, DG REGIO, DG GROW), CBE JU and a wide range of\u00a0others\u00a0to discuss the future of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy – and, most importantly, how it will\u00a0actually be\u00a0delivered.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n One thing was clear throughout the discussion: bioeconomy is not only about sustainability. It is about competitiveness, industrial\u00a0resilience\u00a0and Europe\u2019s strategic autonomy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Bioeconomy clusters are not simply participants in this transition – they are structured ecosystems that connect research, industry,\u00a0regions\u00a0and\u00a0SMEs.\u00a0They translate EU strategies into regional action, investment\u00a0pipelines\u00a0and industrial deployment. In short, they help turn policy ambition into implementation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n EBCA emphasised the need for:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This very first event set the tone for the Alliance\u2019s role moving forward: constructive, policy-driven and focused on delivery.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We warmly thank all our participants for their valuable contributions and constructive engagement.\u00a0The presentation by\u00a0Barbara\u00a0Smailagi\u0107,\u00a0DG ENVI clearly outlined the expectations the European Commission has of the bioeconomy.
