<\/p>\nFew topics are as pressing for our network as the successful scaling up of bioprocesses. Whether moving to pilot, demonstration or industrial scale, scaling up is the point at which a good technology becomes an economically viable one. Without a successful scale-up, many bioprocesses remain stuck at an early stage, even though they are technically promising and generate industrially viable products. It is only with larger volumes, stable processes and reliable cost structures that the so-called “economies of scale” emerge, which convince investors, customers and plant operators.<\/p>\n

Because a scale-up project can rarely be tackled alone and there are numerous hurdles to overcome in this area, we at CLIB focus on active exchange and networking.<\/p>\n
With the newly established “Scale-up” Focus Group, we therefore aim \u2013 as we did previously with the successful “C1” and “Biomaterials & Recycling” Focus Groups \u2013 to provide a platform for exchange, the joint coordination of activities, the finalisation of project ideas and regular technical meetings.<\/p>\n
