BIOWEG receives €1.5 million in funding from SPRIND

Our member company BIOWEG, together with the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), has received 1.5 million euros in funding. The aim is to further develop a waste-to-value platform technology for the water-based recovery of rare earth elements (REE).

The funding is being awarded by SPRIND, the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovations, as part of the Tech Metal Transformation Challenge and will be implemented by the BIOPEPLEACH team. This is a joint project structure between BIOWEG and TU Berlin for the development of a biohybrid bio-acid peptide platform for the recovery of rare earth metals from complex waste streams.

We congratulate the BIOPEPLEACH team on successfully securing the funding.
