CLIB-Focus Group Biomaterials & Recycling @ Henkel

On Tuesday, 24 March, the CLIB Focus Group “Biomaterials & Recycling” met at Henkel’s headquarters in Düsseldorf for its first meeting of 2026.

Presentations by Miriam Buchholzer, Brian Spiegelberg and Michael Richter provided the basis for discussions on the use of post-consumer recycled materials in product packaging, Henkel’s strategy for the transition to renewable carbon, and an insight into the Fraunhofer IGB’s current research into nature-based high-performance materials.

The 20 CLIB members in attendance took the opportunity to outline the Focus Group’s activities for 2026 and gather initial ideas for the next meeting. A guided tour of the site and through Henkel’s Inspiration Centre provided a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes and brought the day to a close.

Led by Martin Lindmeyer (YNCORIS), the Biomaterials & Recycling Focus Group is an actively engaged committee of CLIB member companies, and we always look forward to the productive and trusting atmosphere in which specialist topics are discussed, consortia are formed and plans are made. If you are a CLIB member and are interested in these activities, please feel free to contact us and join the next meeting of our Focus Group.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all participants. Special thanks go to Henkel employees Iva Anić, Rainer Simmering, Andreas Taden and Christian Kastner for their hospitality and for organising the meeting.
