First application phase for the Spark Fund of the “Materials Lab Incubator” launched
We are excited to announce the launch of the first application phase for the Spark Fund of the “Materials Lab Incubator” at the Chair of Biotechnology at RWTH Aachen University!
If you have a groundbreaking idea in the field of sustainable and innovative materials – fitting into one of our three focus areas:
- From sustainable raw materials to high-value materials and active ingredients
- Platform technologies for sustainable material innovations and/or scalable, biocompatible production technologies
- Sustainable materials and coatings for the biological transformation of industries

We are looking for teams that have not yet founded a company and want to develop a proof of concept for their product during our program. You can expect:
- up to 100,000 EUR in funding during the first 8-month funding phase (Spark Fund)
- fully equipped S1 laboratories
- and a tailored mentoring program.
As our incubator is VC-oriented, you will be in contact with life science-focused investors from the very first application round to your business plan pitch — giving you the opportunity to build valuable connections right from the start of your entrepreneurial journey.
