Insights from the C1 Feedstock Focus Group Visit at Evonik – CLIB

Last week, the C1 Feedstock Focus Group had the pleasure of visiting Evonik in Marl for an exclusive, members-only exchange within the CLIB – Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie community.
A particular highlight was the unique opportunity to gain in-depth insights into the 𝗥𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, guided by Thomas Haas and Juliane Merz from Evonik .The visit to the pilot plant provided an impressive look into the practical implementation of innovative Power-to-X concepts.

In addition, participants had the chance to explore cutting-edge developments in 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿-𝘁𝗼-𝗫-𝘁𝗼-𝗬 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗼-𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 through a series of engaging presentations, moderated by the new focus group lead Lars Lauterbach (RWTH Aachen University).

– 𝗨𝗹𝗳-𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗳𝗲𝗹 (Fraunhofer UMSICHT) discussed catalyst development, spanning the journey from CO₂ utilisation to scaled industrial setups.
– 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗮 and 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗪𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁 (Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology) presented on 𝗖𝗢₂-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and its biotechnological potential.
– 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗵𝘆 (Ucaneo) introduced an innovative 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, showcasing new pathways for carbon sourcing.
– 𝗔𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗳 (Delft University of Technology) shared the latest research on 𝗵𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀.

The event concluded with intensive, topic-specific discussions in a 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗳é 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁, fostering valuable knowledge exchange, fresh perspectives, and meaningful networking among participants.
