Professor Dr Volker Wendisch appointed Honorary Professor at Amity University

Professor Dr Volker Wendisch (59), our Deputy Chair of the Executive Board at CLIB and Scientific Director at the Centre for Biotechnology (CeBiTec), has been awarded an honorary professorship by Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh (India), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to biotechnology research and his commitment to strengthening international scientific collaboration. The honour was bestowed at the International Conference on Sustainable Biotechnology and Bio-Innovations (SBB-2026), organised by the Amity Institute of Biotechnology at Amity University Noida. Under the theme ‘Sustainable Biotechnology and Bio-Innovations for a Circular Bioeconomy’, the conference brought together more than 400 scientists, academics, industry experts and young researchers from over 15 countries to discuss research findings aimed at addressing pressing challenges related to climate change, energy security, waste management and sustainable bio-based industries (Sustainable Development Goal SDG 12).
Wendisch has been Professor of Prokaryotic Genetics at the Faculty of Biology at Bielefeld University since 2009 and heads a research group of the same name at CeBiTec. He has been a member of the Executive Board of the Cluster for Industrial Biotechnology (CLIB) since 2023.
