STRONGBIONET launched: Building stronger connections for Europe’s bioeconomy
STRONGBIONET, a new Horizon Europe project, has officially launched with the goal of strengthening Europe’s bioeconomy through enhanced networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. Together with 18 other partners from 14 countries, CLIB is helping to connect existing initiatives and create the conditions for a more sustainable and competitive European bioeconomy.
STRONGBIONET (Strengthening and Connecting Bioeconomy Networks) officially kicked off in June in Seville, Spain. Over the next 36 months, 19 partner organisations from 14 countries will work together to strengthen Europe’s bioeconomy by fostering closer collaboration, facilitating knowledge exchange, and improving connectivity across the sector.
The project aims to improve the coordination and coherence of existing bioeconomy initiatives throughout Europe. As a true “network of networks”, STRONGBIONET will bring together stakeholders from research, industry, policymaking, education, finance, and other relevant fields. Through collaborative co-creation activities, the project will strengthen connections, stimulate cooperation, and encourage mutual learning across the European bioeconomy community.
A key project outcome will be the development of a multilingual, Europe-wide platform serving as a one-stop hub for networking, knowledge sharing, capacity building, sustainable investment, and science-policy dialogue, thus making valuable resources more accessible to bioeconomy stakeholders across Europe.
CLIB will work to attract and inform new investors about sustainable investment opportunities while helping small and medium-sized enterprises improve their investment readiness. In addition, CLIB will lead one of the project’s four Communities of Practice, focusing on industrial bio-based solutions.
Supported by a 4.4 million euros Horizon Europe investment, STRONGBIONET will create lasting links between the many actors shaping Europe’s bioeconomy. By strengthening cooperation, facilitating knowledge exchange, and building synergies between existing networks, the project will contribute to innovation, competitiveness, and the transition towards a more sustainable European economy.
