Webinar: Enzymes in industrial synthesis: a daring manoeuvre or a safe bet for a sustainable future?

25. April 2024,15:00 - 16:30

Biotechnology is nowadays a reality in many fields of chemical industry, but still the potential of biocatalyzed conversions remains largely unexploited.

Chiral amines, antibiotics, fructo-oligosaccharides, proteins, pharmaceutical intermediates, and many other specialties are today produced via whole cell or enzymatic reactions thanks to the very high selectivity of these biocatalysts, and soon enzymes and microbial cells will replace chemical routes in a number of synthesis steps going from condensation to redox to C-C bond formation.

With the growing demand for sustainable products, process industry is integrating biocatalysts in their toolbox and early adopters already are enjoying profitable and sustainable growth.

This webinar series will bring you up to speed on lab developments and industrial partnerships at VITO.
