The transport sector accounts for about one-fifth of Germany’s greenhouse gas emissions, with road transport accounting for the largest share. At the same time, the automotive industry is confronted with increasingly stringent legal requirements and increasing sustainability awareness among consumers. Sustainability is thus becoming a key differentiating factor for OEMs, suppliers and service providers. In order to ensure the future viability of the automotive industry, products and processes must be rethought!
In addition to the switch to alternative drive technologies, resource efficiency, lightweight construction and the circular economy are of growing importance in the industry. Bio-based raw materials can make an important contribution to sustainable business: thanks to innovative new approaches, fossil materials can be replaced, CO2 emissions can be reduced and the circular economy can be promoted. This makes it possible to focus on sustainability right from the production process.
As part of a full-day workshop on 18 September 2025 in hybrid format (on-site in Hanover and online), we would like to enter into dialogue with representatives from the automotive industry , present best practices and bring individual challenges together with the offers of our partner research institutions.
