FuturEnzyme celebrates final project meeting in Madrid
Together with 15 other project partners, including CLIB members Henkel, Evonik, INOFEA and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, CLIB entered the home straight of the EU-funded FuturEnzyme project. Our own assessment of the project was strongly supported by the very positive feedback from our EU project officer, who emphasised the difference of FuturEnzyme compared to many other European projects. As a consortium, we did not work in isolation on each person’s task. On the contrary, we collaborated and communicated closely throughout the project to ensure a fast and efficient transfer of results, sequences and enzymes between academic and industrial partners. It is a real achievement that we have carried out industrial enzyme tests with gram-scale FuturEnzyme candidates in all three use cases: Detergents, Textiles and Cosmetics.
CLIB was able to contribute its expertise to the project as a translator between academia and industry and in focussing on the application tests. Through this participation, we have not only achieved outstanding technical results, but have also expanded our network in the field of enzyme technology in a targeted manner and built up personal friendships.
At the end of the project, the partners of our EU project FuturEnzyme met once again in Madrid for the last and final project meeting. After four years of searching for enzymes in the craziest places, developing cosmetics, combating stains, and treating textiles, we have now come to a very positive conclusion.
Not only have we shown that enzymes can make products greener and better, but we have also become friends with many great people across national borders. And that is what Europe is all about!
A big thank you to CSIC for the organisation the meeting and the coordination of the whole project!
